Dropbox: Overview of 10/31/24 Changes
What is changing?
Dropbox is changing the structure of files and folders to provide more context for shared information. This is scheduled to occur in the early morning of October 31. No data will be lost.
What you need to know:
- Some folder names will change.
- You will see your name on your personal folder.
- "Penn GSE Dropbox" will change to "(Dropbox) Penn GSE."
- Any team folders you renamed will revert to the original name by the owner.
- Team folders will show the full path names.
- Imagine you gave a colleague access to one folder several levels down from the top. While that individual will not be able to see any content in the folders above, they will be able to see all of the folder names above the one they have access to.
For this reason, we recommend all team folder owners review folder names and permission access before 10/31/24 to ensure no sensitive information is shared unintentionally.
