Padlet is an interactive multimedia tool that offers a variety of bulletin board layouts for diverse classroom needs. Students can post various content types such as photos, comments, gifs, YouTube videos, and even Spotify playlists, making it a vibrant platform for class collaboration. For a detailed overview, refer to Padlet's "What is Padlet?" video.
Accessing Padlet
Your instructors will set up Padlet boards and depending on the board settings, sometimes students do not need to sign up for a Padlet account to create posts. If your instructor limits the board to Penn GSE organization users only, they will send a Padlet invitation link to you so you can sign up for a free Padlet account at Penn GSE. If you have any questions about accessing Padlet, please get in touch with your instructor and/or TA for more instructions.
Posting on Padlet
Posting on Padlet is intuitive, especially if you're familiar with platforms like Tumblr or Pinterest.
- Access Padlet from the designated Canvas assignment.
- The Padlet board may be empty or have a few posts, depending on the activity.
- To post, locate the pink circle with a plus sign at the bottom right.
- Hovering over this button will display instructions for adding to the board.
- Clicking the button opens a new screen with a text field and five hexagon icons, facilitating the addition of text or media. Use this screen to craft and submit your post.
Engage, share, and collaborate using Padlet to enrich your learning experience!
The pink hexagon icon, adorned with three horizontal dots, opens a door to a plethora of posting options for students:
-
Enhanced Media Libraries: This icon grants access to expansive and searchable databases filled with gifs, images, and videos. So, if you're looking to add a visual flair or relevant imagery to your post, this is the place to be.
-
Easy Website Access: The screen offers streamlined ways to integrate content from popular platforms. For example, if you wish to embed a YouTube video or share a Spotify playlist, you can do so directly from this screen without having to juggle between multiple tabs or windows.
After posts appear on a Padlet, students can:
-
Comment: Use the 'Add Comment' section beneath the post.
-
React: Click the heart icon to 'like'. Instructors might also opt for thumbs up/down icons.
-
Edit/Remove: Access more options, like editing, under the three vertical dots at the post's top right.
Note: Only the post's creator or the instructor can edit or delete it.
