Instructor Guide: How to record with Zoom
Did you know that Zoom has been integrated into Canvas? When you schedule Zoom meetings from Canvas, all the recordings can be automatically and permanently saved under the Class Recordings tab (via a tool named Panopto).
Prerequisites:

Make sure to activate your free UPenn Zoom Pro account https://upenn.zoom.us/.
Click Sign in and then use your PennKey credentials to activate/verify your Zoom Pro account.

Verify Zoom and Class Recordings are listed on the course navigation menu.
Log into Canvas, go to the desired course site that you'd like to record the video, If Zoom and/or Class Recordings are not listed on the course menu, please follow these steps to add them to the course menu.
Click on Settings from the course menu and then select the Navigation tab from the top.
Scroll to click on the three vertical dots next to Zoom and Class Recordings to Enable them and then click on Save.
Record the slides as virtual background in Zoom
- Launch Zoom from the Canvas course site and click Start.
- Click on the green Share Screen button from the bottom control bar and select the Advanced tab from the top of the pop-up window.
- Select Slides as Virtual Background and click on the blue Share button.
- Select the slide deck that you'd like to use for recording.
- Turn on the webcam and change the size and position of yourself. [Learn More]
- Click Record and select Save to the Cloud. Then you can start recording the lecture.
- Click on the Right arrow at the bottom of the slide to advance to the next slide.
Manage the recording
- Once you stop recording, the video will be appear under the Class Recordings tab in Canvas.
Note: It may take up to 24 hours for the Zoom recording to be processed in Panopto. For a short video (8-15 minutes), it may take up to 30 minutes for the video to be available to the viewers.
- By default, the video will be available to the students immediately. But you can customize the availability in Panopto.
Click the Settings button.
On the Overview tab, scroll to the Availability section at the bottom.
